Coaches News Coaches it is mandatory for you to check this website frequently for updates and for general information concerning your teams. Do not assume that you will be contacted with any changes by phone. All changes will be posted on this site.

We are having a mandatory Playoffs Coaches Meeting on
Coaches 03/15/08 Due to the Easter Holiday and Spring Break, we are pushing back the start of the Season to April 5th, 2008. We will have as usual 8 weeks of regular season action (weather permitting) and 1-2 weekends of playoffs. Playoffs will be a single elimination tournament as we have always had and should be completed in one day. Please let your parents know how our playoffs work, so they are not suprised or overwhelmed on the day of the playoffs. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Coaches REGISTRATIONS It is getting to hard to get all the payments and registrations taken care of on Saturday’s. To make sure we get everything paid up by this weekend, please make arrangements to have your team paid up before Saturday. We will be finishing registering during this week on Wednesday and on Friday. Do not wait till Saturday to pay, please make arrangements for Wednesday or Friday. If you are not paid up by this Saturday you will be charged the late fees. The city is really on me for full payment already and I need to pay the league bills, I cannot do so if I still have coaches/teams that haven’t paid. Also you must submit your full roster by this Friday. If you have not done so, you will not be allowed to play this weekend. A lot of you have yet to turn in registration forms and birth certificates, so you cannot play any of your kids until you have done so. This is not meant to hurt any child or to stop them from playing, but I do verify birth certificates to make sure no coach is playing kids older than they should be in any age group and this is the way I do so. So if you haven’t turned in your rosters and registration forms with birth certificates, you will not be allowed to play this weekend. We are going into week 4 now and there is no reason you shouldn’t have turned this in by now. I try to run the fairest league possible and can only do so if I have the paper work to verify the kids ages. I know none of you want to be playing kids that are older than they should be in your age group, so turn in the paper work!
If you are not allowed to play this weekend because you thought I was kidding, please be ready to explain that to your parents, because if they come complaining to me, I am simply going to send them right back to you. Like I’ve stated I don’t mean to be a hard ass, but I’ve got responsibilities to take care of.
Coaches Clarification Coaches this is for simple clairification on certain fake plays. All teams are allowed to run fakes and the defense must hold until the ball is handed off, thrown or the 5 secs. are up. But on any fakes where an offensive player clearly touches the ball while the QB is holding it, that automatically becomes a live play and the defense is allowed to rush in. This issue has come up and I just want to clairify this issue. In the past we had a certain team that would have their QB and RB both run around while both holding the ball, when the defense would rush in, the RB would release the ball and the QB would be the sole individual holding the ball. This team would then complain that the defense had crossed the line before a clear exchange had been produced. This is any unfair advantage to any defense/team and thus is the reason that if anyone else touches the ball after the QB recieves it, it is an automatic live ball. Also there is no reason on a fake for a child to touch the football at all, if it is a fake no player running the fake should truly ever touch the ball, thus the reason it is called a fake. Officials will be have sole discreation during games to call this since they are the ones that determine possesion of the ball. Also we have several teams openly blocking for their hand offs and runs. This is allowed in our league, but remember at no time may any offensive player blocking, physically block or alter the defender. This is screen blocking only, here is the rule we have set: * Illegal Down field blocking / Illegal Block 10 yard penalty (from the line of scrimmage). Any contact causing the alteration of the defender will be considered illegal down field blocking or an illegal block. (This will be referees discretion) All teams must hold before the 5 seconds are up for an exchange of the ball to take place. Any child/team crossing the line before the 5 seconds will be called for a penalty. If you have any questions reference this play or type of play please get with me right away and we can further discuss this. Coaches Any team showing up with less than 6 players during the regular season will be forced to forfiet that game. You may play a 5 on 5 game with the scheduled team, but it will be counted as a 7-0 win against the team forfieting regardless of the score of the 5 on 5 game. Do not make this a habit (showing up with less than 8 players). Our games are supposed to be played 8 on 8, remind your parents of the commitment they are making and they should try and make every effort to be there on game days. Also no game will be held longer than 5 minutes, any team not ready to play by their scheduled time will have 5 minutes max, to get no less than 6 players on the field to play. Teams may pick up players from another team as long as opposing coach agrees. After the 5 minutes if the late team cannot fill atleast a 6 on 6 game, the game will be scored as a forfiet 7-0 loss against late team. If the team fills a game any time taken in those 5 minutes will be taken from inbetween quarters time and half time. We are not trying to get super strick, but we have a set schedule and must try to follow this schedule. Games starting later than schedule end up pushing back the games of teams playing later in the day. If we wait 30 minutes for one game to start late and have delays in games after that game as well. Imagine what time the last team scheduled on that field will play! The playoffs will only be played 8 on 8... NO LESS! If you are allowed to play the regular season with 6 players, do not assume that it will be the same in the playoffs. Once again the playoffs are 8 on 8 ONLY! This is a LEAGUE RULE and no coach can agree to play with less and expect to advance! The 5 second rule is in effect. There is no straight rush this season. Remember it is not how fast you can count to 5, it is properly counting a 5 second rush (1 mississippi, 2 mississippi, ect...). The officials will be calling the 5 second rush, but do not soley depend on their call. All blocking must be done with hands behind the back. Any hand extension on a blockers part is a penalty, so please teach your kids the proper way of blocking. There is no charging into the defensive, no offensive player may physically move a defender while blocking or charge into the defender in an attempt to gain yards. This will also be an automatic penalty. At no time should any team feel that since a rule is not fully enforced that they may get away with breaking that rule or feel that since a rule isn’t fully enforced during the season it will not or cannot be enforced late in the season. Rules are rules and that is why we have them, do not get upset when and where they are enforced. All Coaches are responsible for their players, please make sure that all players act in a good sportsman like manner during and after all football games. Any player(s) or coache(s) caught acting in a non sportsmand like manner will be warned immediately. That warning will be in effect the whole season, after the first warning if a player or coach continues to act in a bad sportsman like manner, they will be suspended and possibly ejected from the rest of the season with out refund. Remember once the season starts, there are no refunds for any player, regardless of the situation. Any player, coach or parent instigating a physical fight or fighting with another person before, during or after any of our games will automatically be ejected from the season and the proper authorities will be called to handle this situation. There is no tolerance for verbal or physical abuse in our league. We are out playing games that the kids are supposed to enjoy. So lets let them enjoy the games and not get caught up in physical or verbal abuse... Once again this is the coaches responsibility, if you can't control your kids or parents, how are you going to expect anyone else to. Speak with your parents and remind them to keep the games fun for the kids, regardless of the scores. Player cards will be required, make sure all players have turned in a copy of their birth certificates upon registration. All player parents are required to attend the Parent meeting at the Delta center. Check the front page of our website times and dates. All players must be fully paid by week 1 game day. Any child that has not paid will not be allowed to play. If it is found that an unpaid/unregisted player played in any game during our summer season. All games for this team will be forfieted and the team will not be allowed to play until this player has registeded and paid any fees owed! If any team/coach is found to be using illegal players or players older than what they should be or is allowed in any age group will be ejected from the league and if any injuries have occured to any child while this was occuring, we will seek legal actions against coaches. The opening update is getting very long and I apologize. But we do need to get this all out of the way. Every season we have had, has been a ton of fun and we hope this season will be the same. Thank you all coaches for taking the time to help coach with this season and for being good role models to all the kids registered with us.
